More faith like potatoes
Every year we plant a small garden, I love having the basics to make salsa fresca, and a couple of extra vegetables too... this is our second year planting potatoes and today was harvest day!! I was surprised at how much I found, especially since the other vegetables were in short supply this summer, eaten by bugs, birds, and a couple of bunnies.
As I was removing dead plants and debris, I realized how much weed I had allowed to grow, I've been so busy this year that I really haven't taken the time to keep my garden healthy. Struggling to pull out some deep-rooted weeds, I remembered the parable of the man who sowed seeds; Jesus compared the earth with our hearts and words with seeds; The Word of God is the seed that gives the fulfillment of His promises and provision, on the contrary it produces tares and will always steal the necessary nutrients to produce a harvest.
So I asked myself if the land of my heart is like my garden. I have been busy!! Oh Lord!! We all want a bountiful yield, but are we taking the time to care for our land? The sooner we remove weeds, the more fruitful our garden will be.
I am very grateful for my crop (especially potatoes), but today I realized that I need to make some adjustments, dig up old roots, remove all the weeds, strengthen the fence around it, and add some nutrients to prepare the soil for new seeds.
